At its Regular Board Meeting on May 18, 2016, the Kerrville Public Utility Board (KPUB) awarded scholarships to two local area high school students, Brianna Stofas and Noe Bustamante.
Brianna Stofas has been accepted to Texas A&M University in College Station. Brianna will major in Biomedical Science. She is currently a senior at Our Lady of the Hills Regional Catholic High School.
Noe Bustamante is pending acceptance into The University of Texas at San Antonio where he will major in Dental Hygiene. He is currently a senior at Center Point High School.
The KPUB Scholarship Program was established in 2012 to encourage local youth to work hard and follow their dreams. The scholarships are each $1,000 per year renewable scholarships, which means a recipient may receive $1,000 per year for up to four years.
Eligible candidates were evaluated on academic achievement, economic need, school activity, community involvement and a short essay.
Philip Stacy commented, “As Chairman of the Kerrville Utility Board of Trustees, there is nothing more rewarding than having the opportunity to award scholarships to hardworking Kerrville area students. These students have shown strong leadership, academic achievements, and the desire to improve our area through their community involvement. They are what leadership is all about, and we look forward to hearing of their successes as they further their education and plan their careers. Congratulations to these very worthy youth!”
