As Florida braces for Hurricane Irma, Kerrville Public Utility Board crews prepare to respond to the call for assistance with rebuilding and restoring power. KPUB participates in the American Public Power Association’s Mutual Aid Program; this program coordinates the efforts of over 2,000 Public Power Communities in responding to widespread outages. Utilities in Florida have already requested assistance. KPUB has responded to a request from the City of New Smyrna Beach; we have two crews leaving Sunday morning to assist with the efforts. Once the storm has passed and damage assessments are complete, crews may be redistributed accordingly. The City of New Smyrna Beach is just south of Daytona Beach and has a population of approximately 25,800. Please keep our responders and all others impacted by and responding to the hurricanes in your thoughts and prayers.
