May 16, 2024—As a community-owned utility company, powering a better education and investing in the future of our youth is important to the Kerrville Public Utility Board (KPUB). Since 2013, KPUB has proudly awarded over $120,000 to deserving seniors in our service area to help make their college dreams a reality.

KPUB is pleased to announce that four local seniors, Lucas Green (Tivy High School), Manami (Ally) Dolley (Tivy High School), Abel Luna (Ingram Tom Moore High School), and Gael Cruces (Tivy High School), will be the recipients of its 2024 scholarships.

KPUB’s scholarship recipients are chosen by a selection committee that ranks the students based on a short essay, economic need, work history, accomplishments in academic achievement, school activities and community involvement.

Lucas Green and Manami (Ally) Dolley were awarded KPUB’s undergraduate program scholarship, which totals $6,000 over four years for each of them. Lucas has been accepted to Lubbock Christian University and will major in Business Management or Finance. Ally has been accepted to the University of Texas at Austin and will major in Theatre and Dance with a focus on Technology and Design.

Abel Luna and Gael Cruces were awarded KPUB’s trade and technical school scholarship, which totals $2,000 over two years for each of them. Abel has been accepted to Texas State Technical College in Waco and will major in Auto Mechanics, and Gael has been accepted to Texas State Technical College in Waco and will major in Diesel Equipment Technology.

“We had a large number of impressive students apply this year, so it was an even more difficult process than normal for our committee to choose these recipients,” said Mike Wittler, KPUB General Manager & CEO. “We’d like to congratulate our 2024 scholarship recipients again and wish all of the graduating seniors the best of luck and continued success as they embark on a new journey.”

Applications for KPUB’s trade school and technical scholarships are accepted year-round at the KPUB office. The scholarship application and criteria can be found on KPUB’s website; additional details are available at kpub.com.
