Join Kerrville Public Utility Board (KPUB) for Weatherize & Save: A Community Home Energy Event during Public Power Week on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, from 10 a.m.–1 p.m. in the KPUB Boardroom.

Free Weatherization Kits & Giveaways

Attendees can pick up free energy-saving supplies, including:

• Caulk and caulking supplies
• Weatherstripping
• LED light bulbs
• Other energy-saving materials

Supplies are available while quantities last.

Learn About Free Home Energy Improvements Through AACOG

Representatives from the Alamo Area Council of Governments (AACOG) will be on site to provide information about the Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) and help residents learn whether their household may qualify for free home energy-saving improvements. Eligible homeowners and renters may qualify for improvements such as insulation, weather-stripping and caulking, broken-window repairs, and certain energy-efficient heating, cooling and water-heating equipment at no cost to qualifying households.

The event will also recognize National LED Light Day and National Energy Efficiency Day with energy-saving information and giveaways.

Save Energy & Lower Your Bills with AACOG’s Weatherization Assistance Program

The Alamo Area Council of Governments (AACOG) offers a Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) that helps households cut energy costs, improve comfort, and use less energy—all at no cost for income-qualifying residents. The program is available to both homeowners and renters.

How to Apply

Each year, KPUB partners with AACOG to help our community access this valuable program. WAP is especially designed to support low-income families, seniors, and individuals with disabilities by lowering the cost of heating and cooling.

While the program doesn’t cover major home repairs, it strengthens your home’s “thermal boundary”—helping it stay warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer, much like insulation in a cup. The less energy your home needs, the more money you save.

To apply, visit the AACOG Weatherization Assistance Program website or attend our semi-annual Community Weatherization Events. You’ll need to provide:

• Proof of income

• A recent utility bill (electric, gas, or propane)

• Identification for each household member

  • (U.S. passport OR birth certificate and driver’s license, or qualified alien status documentation)
