More about AACOG and their Weatherization Assistance Program:

AACOG’s Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) provides savings for the lifetime of your house by reducing energy bills and is 100% free for those that income qualify. The program can be available to both renters and homeowners.

Examples of some of the energy-saving weatherization upgrades may include attic, wall and/or floor insulation, installation of new gas water heaters, space heaters, HVAC, or window air conditioning units, replacement or repair of broken windows and weather-stripping and caulking for air leakage control. To learn more about AACOG’s Weatherization Assistance Program, please contact 210.362.5282 or click here.

AACOG will be providing and accepting applications on-site at the Doyle Community Center for their Weatherization Assistance Program.

Applicants will need to provide:
• proof of income
• copy of a recent utility bill (electric, gas or propane)
• Identification for every member of their household
(U.S. passport—OR birth certificate and driver’s license, or qualified alien status documentation).

Weatherizing your home helps you save money by saving energy, and it can also improve the comfort of your home. The less energy it takes to heat or cool the house, the more money that is saved each month on utility bills.

Each year, KPUB partners with the Alamo Area Council of Government (AACOG) to help our community weatherize their homes through AACOG’s program funding for their Weatherization Assistance Program.

AACOG’s Weatherization Assistance Program is designed to help low-income people, particularly the elderly and handicapped, overcome the high cost of energy through the installation of energy conservation measures at no cost to the applicant.

Although the program does not address major home repairs, it can help lower the amount of energy used in a home by enhancing the structure’s thermal boundary. Like a styrofoam cup, the house will stay warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer. The less energy it takes to heat or cool the house, the more money is saved.
