April 21, 2023—As a community-owned utility company, powering a better education and investing in the future of our youth is important to the Kerrville Public Utility Board (KPUB). For eleven years, KPUB has awarded scholarships to deserving seniors in its service area to help make their college dreams a reality.
KPUB is pleased to announce its 2023 scholarship recipients are three local seniors, Alexandria Finch (Tivy High School), Quentin Vega (Tivy High School) and Jakeb Pritt (Ingram Tom Moore High School).
KPUB’s scholarship recipients are chosen by a selection committee that ranks the students based on a short essay, economic need, work history and accomplishments in academic achievement, school involvement and community involvement.
Alexandria Finch has been accepted to the University of Texas at Austin and will attend UT’s McComb Business School. Quentin Vega has been accepted to the University of Texas at Austin and will attend UT’s McComb Business School. Alexandria and Quentin were awarded KPUB’s undergraduate program scholarships, which are $1,500 a year and renewable for up to four years (a total of $6,000 overall).
“KPUB is honored to help these deserving students continue their education,” said Mike Wittler, KPUB General Manager & CEO. “Each year, our selection committee is so impressed with the quality of students applying for these scholarships here in our community.”
Jakeb Pritt is KPUB’s first recipient of its trade and technical school scholarship, which is $2,000 over two years. Jakeb has been accepted to Range College and will major in Welding Technologies.
