July 4th, 2025—Kerrville Public Utility Board (KPUB) continues to respond to widespread power outages following ongoing severe weather, flooding, and road closures throughout the service area. As of this afternoon, approximately 2,756 customers remain without power.

KPUB crews are working around the clock to restore power, prioritizing safety and accessibility. However, the continued impacts of flooding have made certain areas inaccessible with unknown damages, extending restoration times for some customers.

Major Impact Areas:

  • Hunt Area
  • Hunt Substation is flooded and remains inaccessible. Numerous downed poles have been confirmed in the area. KPUB crews are still assessing the extent of the damage.

  • Center Point South (Highway 27 Area)

This area is completely without power. The outage cause location is still inaccessible due to high water.

  • Riverhill Subdivision

Power was restored at approximately 2:30 p.m. Crews successfully completed restoration after gaining access earlier today.

  • Ingram

Damage assessment is ongoing. Restoration efforts remain delayed pending accessibility improvements.

  • Highway 173

A downed power line has been reported in this area. Crews are on site and responding.

Access and Safety Challenges

KPUB continues to face significant challenges due to flooded roads and washed-out infrastructure, which limit access to critical equipment and affected areas. Crews are working as quickly and safely as possible in all locations where conditions permit.

Outage Response Times

Restoration efforts are expected to take longer in areas with severe flooding or where access remains restricted. Customers in those locations should prepare for the possibility of prolonged, even multi-day outages. At this time, KPUB cannot provide estimated restoration times; however, crews are continuously assessing conditions and will restore power as quickly and as safely as possible once those areas are accessible.

Safety Reminder

KPUB urges the public to follow these safety precautions:

  • Stay away from downed power lines.
  • Always assume any downed line is energized and dangerous.
  • Report downed lines immediately to KPUB or call 911.
  • Do not attempt to drive or walk through flooded areas.
