October 2, 2024—Kerrville Public Utility Board (KPUB) proudly announces that it has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its annual comprehensive financial report (ACFR) for the 2023 fiscal year.

This prestigious award, granted by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) of the United States and Canada, was given after an impartial panel judged the report to meet the program’s rigorous standards. These standards focus on demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate the report’s financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read it.

As the highest honor in governmental accounting and financial reporting, the Certificate of Achievement recognizes outstanding accomplishment by a government entity and its leadership. This marks the 31st consecutive year that KPUB has been recognized with this award.

“We’re thrilled that KPUB has maintained this high standard of excellence in our financial reporting,” said Amy Dozier, KPUB Director of Finance. “This accomplishment is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our staff, who ensure that our utility remains fiscally responsible and transparent for our community.”

The GFOA established the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting Program in 1945 to encourage and assist state and local governments to go beyond the minimum requirements of generally accepted accounting principles to prepare comprehensive annual financial reports that indicate the spirit of transparency and full disclosure, and then to recognize individual governments that succeed in achieving the goal.

The GFOA advances excellence in government finance by providing best practices, professional development, resources and practical research for more than 21,000 members and the communities they serve.
