November 10, 2025Kerrville Public Utility Board (KPUB) has once again achieved national recognition from the American Public Power Association (APPA), taking home four prestigious awards at the 2025 National Customer Connections Conference held in Salt Lake City, Utah. KPUB earned more awards than any other utility in attendance, marking another milestone year of excellence for the community-owned utility.

For the third consecutive year, KPUB received the Public Power Customer Satisfaction Award, making it the only Texas utility to have earned this distinction since the award’s establishment three years ago. Only 15 public power utilities nationwide received this recognition in 2025, which honors organizations that provide exceptional service and engagement to their communities.

Award levels are based on customer survey results in key performance areas, including customer service, field personnel, communication, reliability, value, outage response, innovation, and overall satisfaction. KPUB received the Silver Level Customer Satisfaction Award again, reflecting consistently high ratings across these categories.

“This recognition is a testament to the incredible dedication of our entire KPUB team,” said Mike Wittler, General Manager & CEO. “Our employees — from customer service to our linemen in the field — are committed every day to delivering safe, reliable, and responsive service. To be honored again by our customers for that work is both humbling and rewarding.”

In addition to the Customer Satisfaction Award, KPUB received three national communications awards in APPA’s Excellence in Public Power Communications competition, including:

  • Award of Excellence in the Video category for the Hill Country Flood feature
  • Award of Merit in Web & Social Media communications, and
  • The highly coveted Audience Choice Award, voted on by peers across the public power industry.

KPUB was one of only 53 public power utilities and organizations nationwide recognized for communications excellence this year, and the only utility to take home four total awards at the 2025 conference.

The Excellence in Public Power Communications Awards honor exceptional creativity and effectiveness in storytelling across three categories: Print & Digital, Web & Social Media, and Video. Entries were evaluated by a panel of communications experts.

“These awards highlight how our team not only powers Kerrville reliably, but also connects with our community in meaningful ways,” Wittler added. “We’re proud to represent Texas and to continue setting a high standard for customer service and public engagement.”
