- Never put your fingers or anything else in an outlet.
- Never pull a plug out by the cord. Gently pull it from the base.
- Electricity and water should never mix.
- Never touch light switches or appliances when you are wet. Do not plug appliances near bathtubs, sinks, or pools.
- Ask an adult to fix broken cords or plugs.
- Do not play on or near power lines or electrical equipment.
- If a kite becomes caught in electrical lines or equipment, or falls into the area of a substation, do not try to retrieve the kite. Instead, leave it there and call KPUB for assistance at 830.257.3050.
- Trees near power lines should never be climbed.
- Do not play on or touch metal transformer boxes.
- Never climb the fence around a substation. If a toy falls inside, tell an adult.
- Do not swim or play outside during a thunderstorm. Go inside, don’t get fried.
