Kite Safety
- Use kites made out of plastic, wood, and cloth; never metal.
- Only fly kites in open areas far away from power lines and other electrical equipment.
- Metallic thread or wire can cause injuries or death if it comes in contact with power lines. Only use kite string made from cotton, linen, or nylon.
- If a kite becomes caught in electrical lines or equipment, or falls into the area of a substation, do not try to retrieve the kite. Instead, leave it there and call KPUB for assistance at 830.257.3050.
