KPUB has submitted its final application for the DOE Solar in Your Community Challenge. We have three solar systems being developed as part of the challenge in partnership with the Mo-Ranch, Schreiner University, and the City of Kerrville.
The systems at the Mo-Ranch and the City Landfill have started producing energy. The Schreiner University system is expected to be online this summer.
The systems provide benefits to:
1. Low and Moderate Income customers through a new rate that was approved by the City Council in October,
2. The hosting non-profits through solar offtake agreement which allow them to use a portion of the energy produced by these solar systems, and
3. To all KPUB customers through reduced costs associated with summer peak energy demands.
