Lights Out, Kerrville is a voluntary community event meant to educate the public on the impact of your lighting choices.

This campaign is sponsored by Kerr County Friends of the Night Sky and runs from May 1-8, 2024, in conjunction with Lights Out, Texas – a statewide campaign focused on protecting the billions of migratory birds traveling through Texas.

Lights Out, Kerrville seeks to demonstrate how each of us can play a part in collectively improving the night sky quality where we live. This simple act of turning out your lights from sunset to sunrise will represent how much better we can see the night sky when we work together alongside our neighbors.

To participate, please extinguish all nonessential outdoor lighting and close your blinds after sunset each day of the campaign to enjoy the enhanced view of the night sky.
